SAN LUIS RIO COLORADO, Sonora (PH)
Alberto Melgoza not want to be called a hero, but his feat so amerite.Fue who saved the first three Erick shipwrecked vessel that sank early Sunday in the Gulf of California near San Felipe, Baja California.

The names of those saved do not know, just know that they were the cook and two American tourists who failed with a word, they did not speak Spanish.

The achievement of this coastal native of the Gulf of Santa Clara, is full of curiosities, ironies and acts of God that prevented the wreck to become a major tragedy.

"Beto" Melgoza, as they say in the fishing port, and his crew named Hugo, had left the morning of Friday 2 to fish, as a day of work.

The weather was pleasant, the wind blew gently and the small boat named Sea Platinum worked without problem.

They had spent a whole day of work at sea when returning to the Gulf of Santa Clara with several kilos of fish, from the dinghy motor went out.

"At first we do not care, but after several attempts to jump-start the engine of the boat knew that was not going to fix," said Alberto.

In the small boat engine does not work, could do nothing but wait for someone to rescue them. "We spent a day drifting and no one came for us, we were starting to worry," said Alberto Melgoza. It was Saturday night.

The wind began to blow and big waves hit the boat hard.

Clinging to faith and to the side of the small vessel, Alberto and Hugo supports each of the blows from the sea. Waves were raging, roaring and unforgiving.

For hours, these two anglers braved the winds, always with the fear that the canoe went under.

For the second day without food or water, feeling the hope was a passenger in the mind of Albert and Hugo. Anxious and desperate parts of the engine moved from the dinghy and inexplicably fired.

Aware of the little fuel they brought in the bottles made their return to earth, the port of San Felipe, without imagining what it would encounter on the road.

They had advanced some miles when the sea reached a spot to three seniors who clung to life.

"We were scared to see these people because they spend almost the panga over, what we did was raise them, they looked very tired and injured, more than we do and why we lasted two days in a shipwreck."

Erick survivors were puzzled, but did not hide their appreciation for their heroes, two humble fishermen in the Gulf of Santa Clara who had faced a storm in the Gulf of California.

With the fuel to run out, the fate of the rescued fishermen and seemed to be on their side.

"The fuel that we brought was not going to use to get to the edge of San Felipe, but fate, look, we got in the way a bottle of gasoline that had left the boat, we were tourists, so it was like we were saved" , explained with a smile.

At San Felipe left the tourists and Erick Cook in the hospital.

What I wanted was to return with his wife and children in the Gulf of Santa Clara.
